Mawage

“Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday. Mawage, that bwessed awangment, that dweam wifin a dweam… And wuv, tru wuv, will fowow you foweva…” —The Princess Bride

That’s right! You lucky folks who actually check this blog for all the lastest up-to-date (sort of) Maggie news, you heard it here first (sort of!)…..

I am now officially a Slater.

And to make up for the fact that facebook/myspace/etc. were all informed first, rather than here, I’ve made special arrangements for you and only you to have the first sneak peaks of the snap shots of the ceremony!

Naturally, because we eloped and the ceremony itself was quick and efficient, we don’t have a huge number of photos. Expect to be heavily compensated when we return from our trip to Switzerland! In fact, we pretty much decided before we picked a day to elope on that our “classic wedding” picture that graces so many walls or hall-side tables in so many homes would probably be our pictures from Switzerland, because you can’t take a bad photo there, and it will be different, which we both like! ^_^

The ceremony was performed by Harvey Ames, a friend of my parents, at 4:00 or there-about on Tuesday, June 17th, 2008. Mark it on your calendars! ^_^ It was just what I hoped it would be: low-key, low stress, quick, and incredibly fun. Harv did a great job. We couldn’t have asked for anything better!

Then after the ceremony, we drove straight from Peterborough to New Castle, where we had made reservations at Wentworth by the Sea for the night. It is a beautiful hotel, and the service is fantastic. Plus, we got bumped up to a more expensive suite without charge because they had overbooked. Can’t be upset about that! Funny story: my grandfather apparently stayed at the Wentworth back in ’56 for a conference on lightning! Who’da thunk it?

It was everything we could have hoped for and more. Now onto Switzerland!

Writing Stuff:

Not much new to report here. Decided–I may or may not have mentioned–to scrap all 4,000 words of Chapter 3, and since that decision, I’m still working to find the proper voice for the next section, along with what it needs to accomplish. I think I’ve almost got it, but not quite. Still rolling it around in my head. Maybe I’ll get it done Monday.

Also, par usual, received my latest rejection slip. Bummer. Ah well, onto the next place.

Current Writing Year Summary:

3/4 Brand New Stories

1/4 Polished/Submittable Stories
