*HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF* Oh man, I was so, so scared that today’s session would go the way yesterday’s did. I mean, talk about painful. But it was so much better today. I did a tiny bit of thinking ahead, trying to figure out what I could do to make this scene more exciting, and drawing on a little of the Great Courses writing class I’m working through and just on good, old “how do I make this more fun?” I managed to work through the hangups I ran into yesterday to actually compose a scene I quite enjoyed writing. It’s muuuuuch better, much more involved, and foreshadows some nice things to come. Will it need work? Oh my, yes. There’s clearly some character-trait cleanup stuff I’m going to need to do at some point (maybe sooner rather than later, but we’ll see…), and I can feel the lace-like thinness of the development, but meh. I’ll work on that later. For now, it’s moving forward again (quite literally), and I’m excited to progress. And boy does it feel good to cut out everything I did yesterday–it was haunting me by how much I hated it. Though despite that, I did actually end up keeping a chunk of dialogue from yesterday’s work, so even the worst most wretchedly stupid session proves it can still be of use in a better version later! #nowritingiswasted
