Had some inertia issues at the start of today’s session. Didn’t want to write, but not as vehemently as yesterday. Tried music, but it didn’t help, so turned off the music and just plunged in stubbornly. Things eventually clicked into place enough, and the scene is undoubtedly better than the first version I wrote a week ago before stopping to figure out where this chapter actually *should* be. I’m not 100% sure where I’m going, but things seem to still be moving steadily ahead, though I probably need to sit down sometime soon and plot out the next few chapters, since I’m just about at the end of where I plotted to before. It’s been kind of a haphazard plontser kind of method, half-plotting a few chapters ahead, half-pantsing the rest. It is similar to how I wrote my two longest rough-draft novels previously, though, so perhaps this is just part of my way about getting through a work this long. Keeping just enough in mystery to be interested in what happens behind the curtain, but not so unguided that I panic in the woods.
