Man, I love Write Club! A writer friend and I get together some Fridays (today, it was Thursday because of tomorrow’s apparent SNOWPOCALYPSE (maybe? maybe not? Rain? Sleet? 12+ inches of snow? Who knows?!). We have an uncanny ability to predict bad weather, namely by deciding to host a Write Club… But we pound the keys together, and it’s a great way to stay focused and have some company during the word battles we’re fighting.
Today was a good day, though boy, am I indulging myself on this particular chapter. 1.4k words just to get my MC out of a hot bath, into bed, then out again for breakfast and onto a cog railway in the woods? ANYWAY. I have a very strong feeling that I’ll probably be slicing about 25% of this book in editing to streamline it, but for right now, I’m not worrying about it. I can cut words. Boy, can I cut words. I can be pretty ruthless, and my more pressing struggle is to keep the inner editor at bay who’s constantly trying to whisper in my ears “but is it necessary?”
