Day 59: All the Pretty Things to See

In Which Our Hero Arrives at Frosthaven

Project Title: The Mistress of Frosthaven
Genre: YA – Dark Fantasy
Words Today: 1,712
Running Total: 30,304
Scrap Draft: (V1.0 = 31,142), V2.0 = 8,368

Finally began salvaging some description details from the V1.0 draft, and will probably harvest more as I get deeper into pre-tread but still functional territory. Still feeling a bit self-indulgent, but ah well. I have a tendency at times to try to write too fast and skip all the details, so I don’t mind that currently I’m mired in minutia.

I’m so excited, though, because this story has taken a somewhat unexpected setting turn (still on a mountain top, but much, much bigger mountain), and for the first time in possibly ever I’m able to really hack into my memories of Switzerland and cog railways and glacier gorges and grassy spaces above tree-line. I’ve always wanted to include these kinds of things in my fiction before, but never quite found the right story. This one, however, is begging for these kinds of details, and I’m thrilled to put some personal touches on them!
