PPPFFFTTTTTT~!

UUUUUUGH. So the past two weeks have been about as productive as a clogged toilet. The sleeping situation did not improve, NAY-! Our attempt to fix the situation inevitably made it horribly worse, so we’re backtracking to what used to work (at least, better), and restarting with a later bedtime and hoping that at least resets the sleep routine to something generally more manageable, sleep crutches be damned. We’ll figure it out eventually, but we’ve got to survive the process in the meantime.

Luckily, the Creative Writing 1 class via the AWC has been clipping along at a good pace, and I have picked some some useful tidbits that I think may help me organize my writing with a bit more thought. I’m realizing how often I blaze forward without thinking, and how often that tangles my stories up in knots that I then have to spend a lot of time untangling later. But-! I am picking up some great exercises and thinking about the fundamentals in a fuller, more informed way, which I do think helps, if only by taking out the doubts that something of the basics is missing in my mental vocabulary. So I’ll take it! One step forward, eighteen steps back, ammiright?

Needless to say, here at Chez Slater we are tired, a bit grumpy, and absolutely all of my good habits have ppffft~! jumped out the window. So I’m trying to pick up the pieces and get some semblance of normalcy back. First three habits to pick back up: 1) Exercise, 2) Write a little something everyday, even if it’s just a sentence, and 3) Use my planner so I’m not dropping a dozen other hamsters through the cracks in the meantime due to sleep deprivation.

Random unrelated note: Did anybody else up in the New England/New York area feel that windstorm come through last night? WHOOOOO-! That was a bit wild. Lost power for a few hours overnight, but it was back by morning, so no remote school trouble.

Hang in there, guys! We’re chugging along. 2020 is almost over, and I’m crossing my fingers 2021 winds up at least a smidgeon better? Please? Pretty please?
