Hello friends! Phew, it’s been a bit since I did an update, and I apologize. Things have been busy here at Chez Slater, especially now that we’ve hit April Vacation. But I wanted to post a couple quick updates to keep you in the loop:
- I am planning to attend WorldCon this August, so if you’re out in the Seattle area and planning to be around, let me know! I’m not sure what days/what duration yet, but we’ll see.
- I’ve sold three stories in the past week (THE PAST WEEK, after an almost year-long drought! This field does weird things to the head, let me tell yah…):
“Any Day But Today…”–my irreverent (and in my opinion, hilarious) superhero story about a young hero in training who really, really, really doesn’t want to fight a low-grade villain during her period (originally published in Andromeda Spaceways and reprinted in their Best of the Year anthology)–is getting reprinted as audio for StarShipSofa! Very excited about this, because I *love* hearing my work performed aloud (and love reading it aloud myself, though I’m not doing that this time!)
“The Trash King”–a story about toxic friendship and a guy with a seagull head set in my alma mater UHawaii at Manoa–is going to be in HOPE: The Thing with Feathers from Metaphorosis, coming out this fall.
“Gluten Breath”–about, you guessed it!, sentient bread! You guys asked for a story about sentient bread, right? This one’s going to The Core Review, which is something of a spinoff from Redivider, which as you may remember published my what-if-you-could-take-showers-for-a-living story. Don’t have dates on that one yet, but will let you know when I know. - (okay, two is a “couple” of things, right? So I don’t have a third…)
Anyway-! I actually DO have a third thing: I’ll be putting up an interview with the fabulous writer Lincoln Michel (of recent Metallic Realms fame), as well as a review of the book. Have a passion for the sci-fi community? Like unreliable narrators? Authorial doppelgängers? Inter-group drama? Millennial writers just trying to scratch out a living in New York City? Metallic Realms has you covered.
Okay, that’s it for now!
