LM2tB – DRAFT DIARY – Day #15

Love Me to the Bone
Draft 1

What Happened in the Story: Madeline bumps into Irene in the hall after a minor falling out, and gets herself invited along to check out the Electro-gram, whatever that is. According to Irene, it’s “a hoot.”

Additional Notes: I always think I’ll get so much done at the end of October, but it’s always such a visual-art heavy period, I so rarely have the energy to do both writing and crafting. So I’m trying something I’m calling “Low Gear” writing, when I know a time-frame is going to be particularly challenging or distracting, I’m going to try to keep touching the project daily, but expecting on the tiniest effort to move it forward. In this case: 100 new words. It’s easy, it takes about 5 minutes at MOST, and I could do that even if I was sick in bed. But I think keeping that touch-point will help maintain forward momentum, even if very slow (just like low gear on a bike can get you up a hill without too much pain). I think that may help keep my opinion of the project in a good place, too, because my goals won’t be screaming like a car stuck in high gear when it really needs to be at a low one! And there may be times when the writing is coming fast and easy–the classic highway or straight-away–in which I can kick into “High Gear” and punch out 2k or more to make faster progress. We’re going to try it anyway!

I also have a story I need to edit for tomorrow, so I’ll probably do that then, rather than this, so maaaaaybe I’ll have an update tomorrow? Otherwise, I’ll see you in November!

Thanks for following along, and I hope you enjoy the ride! I’ll try and make these daily updates (on writing days), but I’ll probably miss a few now and then. Sorry about that in advance, but I’ll do my best to be consistent. If you’re craving some personal stakes in this process, feel free to toss me a “You Can Do It!” donation at my Ko-fi shop! I’m going to need a lot of coffee for this…
