Day 63: Stitching Together

In Which Our Hero Meets a Stranger

Project Title: The Mistress of Frosthaven
Genre: YA – Dark Fantasy
Words Today: 1,368
Running Total: 32,815
Scrap Draft: (V1.0 = 31,142), V2.0 = 8,368

Made decent progress again today, but man this section seems like it’s dragging its heels. I half wonder if it’s partly because I expected this chuck to go so much faster than previous segments, simply because I’m kind of retreading material that in theory should be almost cut-and-paste. In reality, it’s actually requiring a fair amount of reworking from scratch, since the character’s motivations and reasons for being where he is are significantly different than in Version 1.0, and that’s requiring most of the material to be reworked at least in part. Ah well. There’s a part of me that’s very tempted to skip ahead and write other scenes I’ve already pre-planned a bit (very, very tempted) just to gain back some momentum. I’m not entirely ready to take that step, but I might consider it. Writing tough connective scenes is somehow easier when it’s the last thing you have to to be finished with a big chunk, you know? I’ll think about it…
